WHAT IS A STANDARD CARDBOARD BOX?
Before we look at what is a standard cardboard box, let’s look at its definition, or more so, its composition. A cardboard box is made up of layers of heavy-duty paper. When looking at the range of packaging products on offer, cardboard boxes are easily recognisable, highly practical and widely used, from the domestic shopper, to global industrial markets shipping their goods abroad.Okay, now to the Standard in a Standard Cardboard Box. Standard doesn’t necessarily mean one global “standard”. Various suppliers can – and do – have their own versions of standard cardboard boxes especially as it applies on the industry they are supplying.
A standard cardboard box (which is the most common style of corrugated shipper) is known as an RSC: Regular Slotted Carton and is the most cost-effective option around. This is a standard shaped box with flaps top and bottom that are closed and secured using packaging tape. Plus, it comes in a variety of sizes ranging from a tiny 200mm x 200mm x 200mm to a 2000mm x 2000mm x 2000mm box.
There are also custom options: boxes can be made in any size you may require, from small 220mm x120mm x 190mm to large 565mm x 450mm x 590mm.
It doesn’t have to stop there! You can go all the way to a pallet box 1100mm x 1100mm x 900mm and even further to a handmade heady duty RSC 2400mm x 1600mm x 600mm.
To go even deeper, ‘standard RSCs’ are designed by our experts to suit any product you may wish to package and ship. For some, this may come as a surprise, as there are many variables that are taken into consideration when designing packaging for a customer’s product. The most crucial factor being: the end goal of ensuring our customer’s products are delivered in well-presented cartons and in one piece.
If there is any element of our RSCs that does not suit your needs – whether it be the material, size, or shape: we also custom-make cartons to suit your product and business.
There are hundreds of different Corrugated Carton designs and options with most of them needing to be Die Cut. Die Cut Cartons need a knife which allows us to design or modify standard die cut styles to suit your individual requirements and will involve a one-off Die cost.
Most of our customers do decide to go with custom packaging: adding extra characteristics to their boxes, like company branding, personal messaging and personal colours to name a few. Enhancing the end-user’s experience through custom packaging directly strengthens the overall brand, with positive results in repeat sales and generating new business through word-of-mouth!
